I’M GIULIA

I like to call myself a free person, because every choice of my life has been dictated by the need to discover who I was and to transform myself, slowly, into the person I am today, completely in tune with the land where I live, pleasantly committed to knowing the people that life has made me meet, serenely aware that happiness is not a goal to be achieved but a way of travelling because by smiling any adversity changes its colour.

A BIT ABOUT ME…

I was born in Lombardy where I lived until I moved to Sardinia. Since I was a little girl I tried to understand who I really was and in this journey I made many mistakes, sometimes I betrayed myself, sometimes I had to deal with life, sometimes it was really hard but now, with hindsight, I also thank the hardships that allowed me to become the person I am today.
At the beginning it was a family, then a wedding and then two beautiful children: Matteo and Elena who today are two beautiful adults. Then it was the desire to engage myself as an active citizen in environmental associations first and then culturally. It was a short but difficult step from there to make my dream of working in the theatre come true. But with perseverance and wonderful people, theatrical activity became my work on stage and in the organization as well as in teaching. With theatre, I thought I had achieved stability, dream work, the purest and truest passion but then…..then unexpectedly the journey to Sardinia arrived.

THE BIRTH OF A DREAM

How does a dream come about? Absolutely by accident! None of us can choose what to dream about; it is the dream that finds us, it creeps into our minds and gradually becomes a priority. And so it was for me with Sardinia. Arriving on the island for a theatrical tour, I found myself in Cagliari and it was love at first sight. But not just any love, it was immediately something overwhelming, essential and absolutely unexpected. My life slowly began to change without me understanding the reason, the meaning, the purpose, the only thing certain was that I had to return to Cagliari and understand why this land was somehow calling me. That’s how the monthly trips began, where the only thing I was afraid of was taking planes to get to the island to discover it, study it, feel it on my skin and in my mind. So the certainty of wanting to live in Sardinia was born together with the need to invent a job that would allow me to live it every day, to make it known to others, to create synergies and collaboration with the locals, to allow travellers to feel the same emotions that had made me fall in love.

OLISARDINIA AND THE BLOG

Olisardinia is the dream that has become reality, it is the daily commitment that for over a year has taken me to every corner of the island with my camera in one hand and dozens of books in the other to study the nature, history, culture and traditions. To be able to know the territory, so wild, varied, often unknown and rarely visited. A commitment that continues constantly, including books, meetings with people, trips to the most hidden corners because if you love something I know you want to know in detail and the island deserves an unconditional love.
The blog is the need to tell what I see, live, discover to make this corner of paradise known to anyone who wants to approach it. Living here is a great privilege and accompanying travellers to discover it is an honour that means transmitting passion so that every visitor can find that corner of Sardinia that they want to keep among the most precious memories. In one of the many variations of the Sardinian language “olis” means “do you want”and this is what I ask those interested in my work: do you want to know it, observe it, live it intensely? if you want we can do it together.
