TINY LITTLE TREASURES

TINY LITTLE TREASURES

I didn’t update the blog in February because, when the article was ready, the world started to change and I didn’t know what to tell anymore. Now that we all feel cooped up, I would like you to recall to your mind a memory that brings you a smile. Think about it intensively, slowly, taking care of all the details. I go first: it’s spring time and the day starts crossing the Trexenta between cultivated fields and flocks of grazing sheep. The air is warm and I’m driving down the empty roads just to enjoy the landscape, the overbearing green of the grass that touches gently the blue of the sky. I can’t resist the colours and so here I am laying down, the soft and tender grass is so pleasant on my skin, and I look at the sky enjoying the view of the clouds that chase eachother.

Then the scent of flowers reaches me, asphodels, gorses, daisies, so intense and sweet, I close my eyes and I feel the sun on my skin. I open my eyes again to read a book, while I’m nibbling at a flower of wood sorrel that tickles my tongue with his unique scent. A flook of birds catches my eye and I realize that the sky has become so blue, that I feel like diving into it . I get back in the car and I leave. While I’m driving, I admire hills and villages, but just the blue is on my mind. Suddently it appears on the horizon, incredibly calm and bluer than the sky: the sea. I get changed among scented junipers and the warm sand gently tickles my feet, feeling like a caress. Instead, the water is cold and it leaves me out of breath for a while, but I dive without thinking too much about it, enjoying the feeling of being cuddled and suspended while I’m swimming, relaxed and carefree. When I start feeling cold again, I come out of the water and I lay down on the beach, drying in the sun. The sea massages my feet, while some seagulls hover above the sea, looking for some fish. I roll in the wet sand and memories of my childhood summers come to my mind: a time when all was about capturing feelings. I wonder why we quit when we grow up. I want to keep doing it, I feel alive and it makes me feel part of the nature, part of the land that I love so deeply. I am happy.

Now it’s up to you: it’s your turn to lose yourself deep into your memories, finding the one which is worth reliving. Our days will go back to being full of beauty like they once were and they will fulfill our hearts. Then we will understand, even more than before, how important it is to experience emotions, preserving them into our minds, like tiny little treasures.

  • What a lovely post highlighting the smaller joys! I especially appreciated the focus on the unhurried pace of life and the emphasis on savoring simple moments, like enjoying fresh pane carasau. It’s a good reminder to find beauty in the everyday, even when things are chaotic.‍‌‌‌
